Meet the team . . . .

Stuart Jones

Our current chairman joined Hospital Radio Wey in 2005 and presents Maple and MAU ward requests on Thursday evenings dance Party. Stuart is a long-standing member and one-time president of Weybridge and Byfleet Rotary club and over the last few years he has regularly presented radio programmes in America (on KDAV Lubbock, Texas).

Here's a little bit of me . . . .

Favourite

Track . . . C C RIDER by LAVERN BAKER [Great Saxaphone Backing]

Favourite Artist . . . NANCI GRIFFITH

Favourite Hobby . . . Walking my dog "Josie" She's a boxer dog" [picture to follow]

Favourite Film . . . Oklahoma

Favourite Person . . . My Wife. Jenny.

Stuart says that Hospital Radio Wey gave him the ideal chance to continue doing the voluntary work that he loves at the same time as waxing lyrical about his other great passion – music from the 50s and 60s. It’s also considerably easier to get to than Texas is!

Stuart is a big football fan, and over the years has played for lots of local teams, including Addlestone, Chertsey and Cobham. However, time has taken its toll on Stuart and he now prefers to walk rather than run!

Every picture tells a story (except this one apparently!).

STUART chats with the great BILL TURNER of Bill Haley & The Comets . . .

Good to hear from you! Yes indeed, Billy Phillips had mentioned your show to me (I sent the link to your Bo Diddley tribute show all around the world, via the Bill Haley Chat Group!) Incidentally, I'm no stranger to Great Britain--in December 1976 I

appeared (with Haley) in London and Southport; and in March 1991 I went to London and Manchester with the reunited Original 1955 Comets--who are: Frannie Beecher-guitar; Marshall Lytle-bass; Johnny Grande-piano; Joey D'Ambrosio-sax; and Dick Boccelli-drums.

In 2004 Paul Kobrak from BBC-2 came over to do a radio documentary on

the "50th Anniversary of Rock Around The Clock" and we'd met--I'd

driven him down to Philadelphia to conduct an interview with the

family of Danny Cedrone (who was the original guitar player on the

record) plus Jack Haley (Bill's oldest son), and I'd also participated

in the interview as well. Incidentally, I get written up in two music magazine over there; "UK Rock" and "Now Dig This"...the latter is putting out a compilation CD

in the fall-winter, and one of our songs will be on it.

Anyhow, here is a video link for a clip of the night the Original Comets reunited for the Philadelphia Music Awards in 1987--I'm playing electric bass in the backline, for the bass they supplied to Marshall Lytle didn't have a pickup on it.

Secondly, here's a video clip of our four MTV Commercials which launched

the M-2 Satellite Network in August 1996--we're playing the "CC Rider" in the soundtrack--especially the 4th spot.

Here below is a link to a December 1974 concert in Paris with Bill Haley

(I'm the young guy on lead guitar.) This concert was filmed--not videotaped!

And here below is a more recent link of us on a NY TV show (Now I'm the OLD guy on lead guitar!)

In closing, I look forward to speaking with you--there is a 6 hour time difference, and I'm up late all night, so feel free to call--let's just email each other to verify when we'll both be at our phones!
