5 Jul - Wraysbury Primary School goes totally tropical!

The sounds, smells and tastes of the Caribbean come to Wraysbury Primary School on Saturday 5th July with their 'Tropical Summer Fair'. The Wraysbury event is always a crowd pleaser and with Trevelyan Middle School Steel Band providing the musical backdrop this year, there will be lots going on to keep the whole family entertained. One of the highlights this year will be Thames Valley Athletics Centre, who will be offering coaching activities and games as well as prizes and competitions to take part in (and maybe keeping an eye out for a future Olympian). Other attractions include the Fire Brigade, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting and a fantastic raffle with prizes ranging from tickets to Kew Gardens and the Lookout Discovery Centre to photography vouchers care of Abacus Photography and Venture." A wide range of refreshments will be available including a licensed bar and BBQ, run by PTFA Chair Surendra Chahal, where you can have a little taste of the islands. And if you fancy a traditional afternoon tea, we've got that too.

10/11 July - The Italian Market – Benvenuto a Staines! Staines would like to wish a very warm welcome to the “Italia In Piazza” Italian Market which will be transforming the pedestrianised area of Staines High Street on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th July – offering the tantalising tastes and mouth watering smells that shoppers expect from a traditional market in the hills of Tuscany or on the streets of Rome.

12 Jul - Grange Festival - Free entry. Attractions include over 70 Classic cars, birds of prey displays, Morris dancers, various crafts, large inflatable slide, teas and cakes, plant sales, live music, licenced bar, barbecue, raffle,tombola, bric-a-brac and children’s activities. The Victorian Walled Garden will be open. Charity fundraising event. Free entry. 12 Jul - Stanwell Village Hall - Amateur Variety Show - 7.15 for 7.30 start - 01784 250422 - This has now become an annual event with music, comedy and magic. Come along, enjoy a light supper with a glass of wine and all for £6.50 adults, £4.00 children under 15. All our entertainers are amateurs and they range from early teens up to senior citizens. We are privaleged to have a barbers shop quartet known as the 'Unlikely Lads ' who are magnificent and a member of the Magic Circle together with a Jazz & Saxaphone duet and various singers plus some comedy sketches and please don't forget the man with the organ. The objective for the Walton Open Gardens Group is “Raising funds to improve Walton’s community garden spaces”.

13 July - 3 CHOIRS COMES TO WOKING - OK, not THE world-famous 3 choirs festival, but this one will ensure the “church full” signs go up at All Saints’ Woodham Lane, Woking on Sunday 13th July at 6pm when the only three local choirs to boast singers aged 8 to 80 perform for the first time. Comprising the regular All Saints’ church choir, guest vocalists from the local Loveday Singers and the debut of 10 junior choristers, their pot pourri programme of tuneful entertainment includes music that’s ancient & modern, sacred & secular and both vocal & instrumental. Turn up early as entrance is free, so too is the ample car parking behind the church near the Six Ways roundabout. There will be a retiring collection for Church Music Funds, to include some new robes for the fast growing number (and size) of the young choristers. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

31 Aug - London to Windsor Bike Ride - 9.00 - 10.30am Start - finishes 5.30pm - Tel No 0117 989 7080 - www.bike-events.com - A late Summer's day cycling - 27 or 37 miles on country roads from Richmond Green to Alexandra Gardens in Windsor. Both routes are signed with marshals, first aid, bike mechanics and minibuses in case you get tired! The route goes through the pretty villages of the Thames Valley to the finish where you'll find entertainment, food, beer tent, music and sports massag, and you can raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
