Broadcasting to Care Homes . . .

Our ‘Reaching Out to the Local Community’ project.

Now that we are broadcasting over the internet, and in accordance with our Constitution, we have launched a new initiative to broadcast to Care Homes, Hospices, Residential Homes and Day Centres etc.

Chairman of Hospital Radio Wey, Stuart Jones, said ‘The setting up costs to broadcast for centres such as yours have been far too high in the past however, we can now broadcast over the internet, a media which is so much easier and less expensive’.

Clive Stevens, who presented the first show for Whitegates Nursing Home said ‘We collected the requests from the residents, and played them back to them at the same time every week. The first show was a real success, I had to cram 14 requests into one hour, which included Frank Ifield, Schubert and some Rock ‘n’ Roll too. We are currently looking at placing our broadcast into venues such as yours, and provided you have a broadband connection, we’d love you to get in touch with us’. Jean Saunders, Activities Co-ordinator at Whitegates, said 'this is a great opportunity for the residents as they all love music. It's particularly enjoyable for them to have personal music requests broadcast and for birthdays it's great to have a special mention.’
